Manhyia Palace opens Book of condolence for late Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III

A book of condolence has been opened at the Manhyia Palace following the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The book of condolence provides an opportunity for dignitaries, traditional leaders, and citizens to pay their final respects to the late Queen Mother. Mourners from across the Ashanti Region and beyond have begun visiting the palace to sign the book and honour her memory.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, officially announced the death of Nana Konadu Yiadom III during a meeting of the Asanteman Council at Manhyia Palace on Monday, August 11, 2025.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the age of 98. She reigned as Queen Mother for eight years, having ascended the stool in 2017 at the age of 90.

She succeeded her mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who died in 2016 after a 39-year reign and was one of the longest-serving Asantehemaa in history.

Born in 1927, Nana Konadu Yiadom III was the elder sister of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. She was widely respected for her wisdom, grace, and dedication to the preservation of Ashanti culture and tradition.

The one-week observance of her passing is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Additional details regarding funeral rites and commemorative ceremonies are expected to be announced by the Manhyia Palace in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the Manhyia Palace has announced a ban on all funerals across Asanteman on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to mark the one-week observance of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.‎
