I nearly took my life due to music struggles – Rap Fada

Ghanaian musician Rap Fada has revealed how depression and financial struggles pushed him to the brink of suicide when his music stopped gaining traction.

Speaking to the Bryt Xtra host on Bryt TV, the Style Biaa Bi hitmaker explained that his infamous habit of walking around in only boxer shorts — which drew ridicule online — was actually a sign of his mental health struggles.

“Walking about in boxers was not intentional; it was something I was dealing with. I was actually going through depression. I even wanted to take my life at one point. Because my music wasn’t hitting. I was frustrated. And there was no one to help me out.”

He said his situation became so severe that he couldn’t afford to record new music:

“There was a time I was always home, and I couldn’t go out unless necessary. There was no money. I couldn’t even go to the studio to record songs.”
