Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has officially announced the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
The announcement was made on August 11, 2025, during a meeting of the Asanteman Council, where the King informed chiefs and elders of the Queen’s death.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III was also the Asantehene’s biological sister.
Following the announcement, the chiefs extended their condolences to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
As per Asante tradition, a one-week traditional rite will take place at the Manhyia Palace on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
About Nana Konadu Yiadom III
Nana Konadu Yiadom III was the eldest of five children of the late Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, the thirteenth Asantehemaa. She was born in 1927 in Benyaade, a town in Kwadaso in the Ashanti Region.
Preceding her ascension to the throne, she participated in various ventures including catering, farming, and petty trading. Her hobbies also included cooking, music, and dancing.
While she did not receive formal education, historian Professor Osei Bonsu Safo-Kantanka commented that her informal education was comparable to formal schooling, highlighting her impressive knowledge and wisdom.
