A book of condolence in honor of Daddy Lumba opens today in Accra.

Today, Monday, July 28, a book of condolence in memory of Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, will officially be opened at his residence and radio station in Accra.
According to Philip Appiah-Kubi, also known as Roman Fada, who spoke with Citi News on Sunday, July 28, 2025, the legendary musician passed away.
He was 60 years old when he died on Saturday, July 26, while receiving treatment at Accra’s Bank Hospital.
According to his manager, the book of condolence will be open to the general public.
“The book of condolence will be opened Monday at his radio station, DL 106.9 FM, and at his residence here in Accra. We are inviting the public to come. We all love our Daddy Lumba, and we are deeply hurt, but God knows best,” he said.
Additionally, the Creative Arts Agency (CAA) has announced a national candlelight vigil in recognition of the late music icon. The vigil is scheduled to occur on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The event will form part of a global tribute to Daddy Lumba, with concurrent ceremonies expected to be held in Ghana, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Netherlands.
“On behalf of the Creative Arts Agency, we warmly invite you to attend a National Candlelight Vigil in memory of the late Daddy Lumba, Ghana’s Highlife music legend,” the statement read.
The Agency noted that the vigil will not only honour Daddy Lumba’s enduring legacy but also serve as a moment of national reflection—celebrating the unifying power of music, culture, and community.
To secure attendance, participants are requested to RSVP by July 31, 2025. Daddy Lumba, whose music defined the Highlife genre and inspired generations, died on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra.
