Woman arrested in Tamale for alleged drug possession

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has collaborated with a joint security task force to apprehend the owner of Suad Collections, a prominent clothing boutique in Tamale, for alleged involvement in the trade of narcotic substances.
On September 18, a targeted operation in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital, led to the seizure of 2,250 wraps of a substance suspected to be cannabis, along with quantities of opioids, from the suspect.
According to NACOC officials, the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to crack down on the illicit drug trade in the region. The suspect is currently in custody, cooperating with investigators, while the seized substances have been sent for laboratory analysis.
Authorities have assured the public of their dedication to combating drug trafficking and related crimes nationwide.
In a related development, NACOC has apprehended a British national and two Ghanaian accomplices at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) for attempting to smuggle 38 kilograms of compressed substances suspected to be cannabis into the country.
The arrest was made after security personnel intercepted two pieces of luggage containing 25 slabs of the illicit substance. The suspects were apprehended during a routine inspection at the arrival terminal.
Upon further examination, officials discovered the suspected narcotics concealed in the false compartments of the suitcases.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects were working in collusion to transport the substances, which were tightly wrapped and labelled in a manner consistent with international drug trafficking methods.
