President Mahama Appoints Aaron Kanor as Acting Customs Commissioner

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Aaron Kanor as Acting Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) with immediate effect.
Mr. Kanor is a highly experienced Customs professional with over three decades of experience in revenue mobilisation, border security and trade facilitation at the GRA.
A statement issued by the GRA on Monday, February 23, stated that his appointment reflects a career marked by integrity, operational excellence and strategic leadership.
Prior to this role, he served as Officer in Charge of Port Operations, where he supervised key customs functions, including enforcement of customs laws, revenue collection and trade facilitation.
The leadership of Mr. Kanor has been instrumental in bolstering border security systems and enhancing compliance within Ghana’s international trade environment.
His extensive experience encompasses various senior positions nationwide, including Sector Commander at Kotoka International Airport and Wa Collections, as well as Chief Revenue Officer in multiple operational areas.
In these capacities, he successfully spearheaded intelligence-driven operations that curtailed smuggling, uncovered invoice falsification schemes, and disrupted criminal syndicates involved in vehicle identification manipulation, resulting in improved revenue performance and strengthened national security.
Furthermore, he has played a vital role in advancing modernization initiatives within the Customs Division, including the implementation of electronic valuation systems and strategic reforms aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and reducing cargo clearance turnaround times.
His contributions have enabled Ghana’s customs administration to align with international best practices while facilitating legitimate trade.
The appointment is expected to further strengthen customs administration, improve compliance, and support Ghana’s economic growth through efficient and secure trade systems.
The Board, Management, and staff of the GRA congratulated Mr. Kanor on his new role and expressed appreciation to the outgoing Commissioner of Customs, Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan, for his leadership and service to the Customs Division.
