The Minister for Energy and Green Transition has sworn in a newly constituted Board of Trustees for the Volta River Authority (VRA) Resettlement Trust Fund, charging members to remain focused on the core mandate for which the Fund was established.

At a brief ceremony, the Minister tasked the Board to prioritise the welfare of resettlement communities affected by VRA operations, emphasizing the need for renewed commitment and accountability in the discharge of their duties.

He urged the members to concentrate on key development areas, particularly public health, education, and sanitation, as well as other critical interventions that directly improve the living conditions of beneficiary communities.

According to the Minister, the Trust Fund exists to address the socio-economic needs of these communities, and the Board must ensure that its resources are deployed effectively and transparently.

The newly inaugurated Board is chaired by Mr. Halid Abdul Rauf. Other members include Hon. Helen Adjoa Ntoso, Hon. Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, Hon. Dominic Napare, Hon. Joycelyn Tetteh, Dr. Seidu Mohammed, and Ing. Samuel Fletcher.

The reconstitution of the Board is expected to strengthen governance and enhance the delivery of development projects in communities under the VRA Resettlement Trust Fund.
