A total of 46 human trafficking victims, including a three-year-old child, have been rescued by the Police Intelligence Department of the Central East Regional Command from a location in Green Estate, a suburb of Buduburam in the Gomoa East District.

The victims, reportedly from neighboring Francophone countries, were allegedly enticed by traffickers with promises of better opportunities abroad.

Subsequently, they were confined in a house, denied access to phones, food, and basic necessities.

One suspect has been apprehended following the intelligence-led operation, which was initiated after a relative of one of the victims filed a complaint.

DSP Victor Dosoo, Public Relations Officer of the Central East Regional Police Command, told Citi News that investigations are ongoing.
