Police pick up suspect seen assaulting woman in viral clip
Ghana Police Service arrests Christford Affadu Danful, also known as Ekow Black, in connection with a viral video depicting the assault of a woman.
The arrest, which occurred on Thursday, 15 January 2026, was facilitated by an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department, with support from the Inspector General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team.
The video’s circulation on social media prompted widespread condemnation, leading to the suspect’s apprehension.
Preliminary investigations suggest a history of disagreements between the suspect and the woman, characterized by escalating verbal and physical confrontations.
Danful is currently in lawful custody and will face charges in accordance with the law.
The Ghana Police Service reiterates its commitment to protecting lives, enforcing the law, and addressing violence, particularly against vulnerable individuals.
