Ashanti Region: 1 dead, 30 seriously injured in head-on collision at Ejisu

A fatal collision involving two commercial vehicles occurred at Ejisu Krapa in the Ashanti Region, resulting in one confirmed fatality and 30 critical injuries.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened when a Ford vehicle and a Toyota Hiace minibus crashed under severe circumstances.

The vehicles involved were a Ford with registration number AW 3264-21 and a Toyota Hiace with registration number AS 3552-20.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the Toyota Hiace, traveling towards Kumasi, lost control while speeding and collided with the Ford vehicle heading from Kumasi towards Ejisu.

The accident caused extensive damage to both vehicles, leaving many occupants seriously injured. Among those affected were two senior high school students en route to school at the time of the crash.

All injured passengers were rushed to Living Waters Hospital for medical treatment, where one victim was pronounced dead on arrival.

An eyewitness reported that several passengers suffered broken limbs.

“Many passengers were injured, some with broken hands and legs. All the seats in the car were damaged,” the eyewitness stated.

Confirming the incident, the Medical Director at Living Waters Hospital, Dr. Gabriel Sakyi Kwofie, stated that a total of 31 passengers were brought to the facility.

He confirmed one fatality, while the remaining victims are currently admitted and receiving treatment. He added that two students are among the injured passengers and are responding to treatment.
