Accra: Police grab two women assaulting 12-year-old girl in viral video

The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two women who allegedly assaulted a 12-year-old girl at the La Roman JHS School area. This was after the mother of the victim had reported the incident to the police, with video of the alleged assault going viral on social media.
The Police, in a Sunday, January 4, 2026 statement issued, indicated the alleged assault occurred on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. The mother visited the police station with the daughter to lodge a complaint, with visible marks of assault on her body.
According to the woman, three women attacked her daughter without provocation.
“The complainant alleged that three women assaulted her daughter,” the police statement said, adding that a Police Medical Report Form was issued to the victim for medical examination after taking the victim’s mother’s statement.
Preliminary investigations, per the police statement, has it that the victim, earlier in the day, had an altercation with a seven-year-old who is related to the suspects. The suspects allegedly went to the 12-year-old girl’s residence after the issue escalated, brought her to their home and assaulted her.
On Wednesday, December 31, 2025, the complainant led police officers to arrest two of the suspects — Precious Giftan Mesopeh, aged 22, and Princess Giftan Mesopeh, aged 25. Both suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.
Meanwhile, the third suspect, identified as Priscilla Novishie Wornyo, aged 49, a fashion designer and mother of the two arrested women, is reported to have travelled to the Volta Region. Police say efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest her to aid the investigation.
The two arrested women are expected to be arraigned and charged today, Monday, January 5, 2026.
Meanwhile, the Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned the public against resorting to violence, especially in disputes involving children. The police urged parents, guardians, and community members to use lawful means to resolve grievances and to report incidents promptly.
“The Command further urges the public to respect the law and protect the rights and welfare of children at all times,” the statement added.
The case has reignited public discussion on child protection and the need for non-violent conflict resolution within communities.
