Collapsed Height Barrier on Accra–Kumasi Highway Poses Risk to Motorists

A height restriction barrier, built to a height of five metres to regulate vehicle loads, has collapsed at Ankaase, along the main Accra–Kumasi Highway in the Atewa East District, posing a significant risk to motorists using the route.
The heavily constructed metal barrier, complete with concrete moldings at the ends, collapsed under unclear circumstances.

Workers involved in constructing the Ankaase-Asamang Tamfoe overpass suspect that low-bed trucks transporting heavy mining equipment along that stretch may be responsible for the damage.
The collapse is gradually causing traffic congestion, as vehicles approaching the area are forced to slow down to avoid the dangling metal.

With no warning signs to alert drivers of the potential hazard, casualties could occur if the responsible authorities do not address the situation promptly, as visibility will be severely compromised at night.
