EOCO arrests 25 suspects, rescues 295 victims in fake QNET job scam

The Economic and Organised Crime Office has apprehended 320 individuals in connection with an alleged human trafficking and recruitment scam at multiple locations in the Ashanti Region.
Following a thorough screening process, officials identified 295 individuals as victims of alleged trafficking, while 25 suspects accused of luring victims into a fake business scam under the guise of QNET were taken into custody.
Victims recruited from various parts of the country under false pretenses of employment, education, and travel opportunities by individuals posing as QNET officers were housed in separate locations in Kenyasi, Kwabre East Municipality, and Buoho, Afigya South District, Ashanti Region.
Staff Officer Dominic Mensah, Head of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit at EOCO, stated that shelter arrangements are being made for the victims as part of efforts to reintegrate them with their families.
Theodocia Naana Bennieh Quartey, Head of Compliance at QNET, expressed concerns over the continued misuse of the institution’s name in fraudulent activities and indicated that the company is enhancing collaboration with security agencies to apprehend perpetrators.
