“I Called Off My Wedding After My Fiancé Beat Me Till I Bled” – Ngozi Nwosu Reveals Painful Experience

Ngozi Nwosu, a veteran Nollywood actress, disclosed that she cancelled her wedding just a day before the ceremony, following repeated instances of domestic abuse by her former partner.
Speaking on Real Life with Aunty Ayo Adesanya, Nwosu shared harrowing details of the violence she suffered, including a disturbing incident where her partner dragged her by the hair until she bled.
Nwosu characterized her former partner as violent, recounting a specific incident where he broke the kitchen door while she was boiling water, dragged her by her hair, and caused her to bleed.
Despite intense pressure from her family and fiancé to proceed with the ceremony, Nwosu refused to sign the marriage papers, choosing her safety over societal expectations.
“It was not an easy decision, but I had had enough. Marriage is not a do-or-die affair,” she affirmed. “When domestic violence becomes too much, it’s best to walk away. If you accept it once, be prepared to continue accepting it for the rest of your life.”
The Fuji House of Commotion actress revealed that at one point she even picked up a pestle to defend herself, saying she was “ready to go to jail” to protect her life. “My neighbours even saw me naked,” she recalled.
Ngozi Nwosu urged women not to remain in abusive relationships out of fear or shame, warning that abusers rarely change. “Don’t stay with a man who beats you and apologises later. Once it happens, it will happen again,” she cautioned.
