Former Kotoko star Eric Bekoe appointed strikers coach at FC Samartex

Ghana Premier League side FC Samartex has appointed Eric Bekoe, a former Asante Kotoko forward, as their new strikers coach.

The Timber Giants, who secured the championship just two seasons ago, have had a disappointing start to the 2025/26 campaign, failing to secure a win in their opening three matches.

Bekoe has been pursuing coaching since retiring from professional football and holds a CAF License C. He will also oversee the club’s youth team.

The timing of Bekoe’s appointment is crucial, as Samartex continues to search for their first league victory following a goalless draw against Nations FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Sunday.

The result leaves them in 12th place with just three points, marking their worst start since joining the GPL.
