Afrodancehall star Stonebwoy has raised concerns about the rising toxicity within Ghana’s entertainment industry, describing the current state of rivalry as unhealthy and counterproductive.

Speaking in an interview with Kojo Manuel on September 10, 2025, he criticised artistes who deliberately release songs on the same day others have major projects out, calling the act “non-directional” and “slavery.”

“Because of such a heightened level of toxicity, we could have channelled that into something very productive, like something very constructive so that our industry will see the shine that it deserves,” Stonebwoy said. “If you cannot do without having to tag along somebody so much, then it means that you are definitely a slave and non-directional; you just move according to other people’s hard work and success to find some cramp out of it to try and use on yours.”

The ‘Toucher’ crooner stressed that although rivalry has always existed, what is being witnessed today is more toxic than what his predecessors experienced. According to him, sections of the public now celebrate negativity, which he believes is dragging down the industry’s progress.

“It has never been this toxic whereby now you find out that there’s a cross section of the masses who actually celebrate that… it’s taking a big toll on our progress as an industry,” he lamented. Stonebwoy further urged artistes to redirect that energy into originality and collective growth for the betterment of Ghana’s entertainment scene.
