Bono Region: Interior Minister renews curfew in Sampa following deadly clashes

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, has, on the advice of the Bono Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument, renewed the curfew hours for Sampa Township in Jaman North District of the Bono Region from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am each day, effective Thursday, September 11, 2025.
The government has issued a statement urging Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and People of the area to exercise restraint in the face of challenges and to use non-violent means to channel their grievances, ensuring peace in the area.
A total ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or offensive weapons has been imposed on all persons in Sampa Township, Jaman North District, Bono Region.
Any person found with such items will be arrested and prosecuted, according to the statement.
Following violent chieftaincy disturbances in Sampa on September 10, 2025, which resulted in one death and injuries to others, the Inspector-General of Police deployed reinforcement teams to the area on Wednesday, September 11.
The police have since restored calm, beefed up security, and intensified patrols in Sampa and surrounding communities.
