Election 2024: Bawumia Denies Performing Below Par in Zongo Communities

Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has dismissed claims of poor performance in Zongo communities during the 2024 general elections, terming them as baseless propaganda.

Speaking at a party gathering in the Adansi Asokwa constituency of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Dr. Bawumia asserted that narratives suggesting Muslims and Zongo voters abandoned him in the last election lacked evidentiary support.

“The propaganda being disseminated is that Muslims and the Zongo people did not cast their votes for Dr. Bawumia. When I heard it, I asked, ‘What data supports these claims?’ Because for me, if you make an assertion, I need data to confirm its validity,”

“Recently, one presidential aspirant claimed that in the Zongos, Dr. Bawumia emerged victorious in only one polling station nationwide.”
