Lordina Mahama breaks down in tears as she honors helicopter crash victims

On Wednesday, August 6, First Lady Lordina Mahama was visibly emotional during a solemn ceremony to honor the victims of the helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.
The crash, which occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, resulted in the deaths of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and six others, including military personnel.
Mrs. Mahama, accompanied by her children, dignitaries, and mourners, became tearful as she paid her respects to the deceased, eliciting sympathy from those present, many of whom also appeared deeply moved. Chief of Staff Julius Debrah and her children offered comfort to Mrs. Mahama.
The flower-laying ceremony is one of several national mourning activities scheduled prior to the state burial on August 15, 2025.
The accident in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region resulted in the fatalities of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and six others.
The eight victims were:

2. Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and MP for Tamale Central
3. Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
4. Dr. Samuel Sarpong, National Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
5. Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate
6. Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala
7. Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu
8. Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah
