Man arrested with 66 parcels of suspected Indian hemp in tricycle at Samreboi

Authorities have arrested a man at the Samreboi-Tanokrom snap checkpoint in the Western Central Region following the discovery of 66 parcels of suspected Indian hemp in his possession.

On Thursday, July 31, 2025, a tricycle, commonly referred to as Pragia, was stopped by law enforcement officials from the Asankragwa Divisional Command during a routine inspection along the Samreboi-Tanokrom road. The individual in question, identified as Daniel Yeboah, was found to be transporting two large bags containing suspected narcotics.

According to a statement released by the Ghana Police Service on August 3, 2025, Mr. Yeboah informed investigators that he had been entrusted with the parcels by a woman from Wenchi, in the Bono Region, for delivery to her at Mumuni Camp near Samreboi, and that he had received a payment of GH¢5,000 for the delivery.

According to police reports, efforts are underway to trace and arrest the woman, suspected of being involved in the transportation and distribution of the alleged drugs. Investigators are conducting operations in both the Western Central and Bono regions to locate her.

Mr. Yeboah is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, August 4, 2025. The Regional Police Command is appealing to the public to provide any information that may assist in identifying or locating the alleged female accomplice.

The Police have also reminded transport operators and community members to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.
