Because of Daddy Lumba, my name will never be forgotten - former President Nana Akufo-Addo pays emotional tribute.

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed deep gratitude to the family of the late music legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, and has asked to be included in the funeral arrangements of the iconic musician.
During a visit to the family on August 1, 2025, Akufo-Addo recalled the significant impact Lumba had on his 2016 electoral victory and said it would mean a lot to him to support the burial plans.
“If history is written in some years to come, there is no way Lumba’s name will be omitted. I came here to sympathise with you. I want you all to know that I am grateful for what he did for me,” he told the family.
The former president also stressed the importance of honouring Lumba’s legacy with a befitting farewell. “I want to support you with the preparation so he will have a befitting burial. I will be pained if I am excluded from the burial preparation. I want you to know that I am also a human being and I am grateful for what he did for me,” he added.
In an emotional reflection, Akufo-Addo acknowledged the lasting impact of Lumba’s music, particularly the campaign song composed in his name.
“He did something magnificent for me, and I am grateful for that. Because of the song he composed in my name, generations will forever sing the song even when we are all dead. Because of Daddy Lumba, my name will never be forgotten.”
