FDA suspends production of Tasty Tom over safety concerns.

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has mandated an immediate halt in production of Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix by Nutrifoods Ghana Limited, citing considerable health and safety breaches at the facility.

According to the FDA’s statement on Sunday, August 3, this suspension is subsequent to an earlier recall order of all canned Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix products and specific batches of the product in 380g and 1.05kg pouches.

The regulatory body declared that the decision was prompted by a multitude of consumer complaints, which led to a thorough inspection of the company’s operations.

According to the FDA, the investigation exposed poor maintenance of vital manufacturing equipment and a lack of robust monitoring systems to ensure product safety and quality.

The FDA stated that production will remain suspended until the company addresses the violations and implements corrective measures meeting the Authority’s standards.
