Akwatia by-election: NPP declares Solomon Asumadu as candidate

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has formally designated Solomon Asumadu as its parliamentary candidate for the forthcoming Akwatia by-election.

The announcement was made by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, during a press conference held at the NPP headquarters in Accra on Tuesday.

Mr. Kodua revealed that the National Council unanimously confirmed Mr. Asumadu’s nomination subsequent to comprehensive consultations with party elders and stakeholders.

Presently serving as NPP Constituency Treasurer, Mr. Asumadu is esteemed for his unwavering commitment to grassroots mobilization and generous financial support of the party’s endeavors in Akwatia.

His dedication and long-standing commitment to the party have garnered him the confidence and support of both the national leadership and local constituency executives.

The Electoral Commission has yet to announce the official date for the by-election, necessitated by the passing of Akwatia MP Ernest Yaw Kumi on Monday, July 7, 2025.
