President John Dramani Mahama paid a visit to two Ghanaian survivors of the recent terrorist attack in Burkina Faso on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, where they are currently receiving treatment.

The two survivors were among a group of Ghanaian tomato traders who were attacked by armed assailants while travelling on a truck.

According to reports, the attackers lined up the male passengers and killed them before setting the truck ablaze in a brutal assault. Seven Ghanaians who lost their lives in the incident have since been buried.

Following an official assignment in Takoradi, President Mahama proceeded directly to the hospital upon arrival in Accra to engage the survivors and receive first-hand accounts of the tragic incident.

He was accompanied by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah.

During the visit, the President offered condolences to the victims and assured them that the government would fully cover their medical expenses.

The survivors were repatriated to Ghana by the Ghana Armed Forces and are currently undergoing counselling, alongside the necessary psychosocial and medical support.

Those who sustained injuries are receiving treatment at the military medical facility.
