The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, has revealed that Ghana’s Criminal Investigation Department will be seeking an arrest warrant from Interpol for a Russian national accused of publishing explicit visuals of Ghanaian women without their consent.

The Minister stated that some of the women featured in the videos have filed complaints, prompting immediate investigations into the alleged offenses.

Despite initial speculation surrounding the incident, the Minister confirmed the suspect’s identity and nationality, verified through his passport, contradicting earlier online rumors.

Mr. George described the suspect’s actions as atrocious, violating Ghanaian law, undermining the victims’ privacy, and disregarding their dignity.

The Russian Ambassador to Ghana was previously summoned to express formal concern over the alleged unlawful actions and demand accountability.

The controversy intensified after a viral video showed a man identified as Yaytseslav interacting with Ghanaian women, some of whom accompanied him to his hotel.

The visuals sparked a debate on social and traditional media, generating public outrage and calls for action against the man for exploiting the women without their consent.
