Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has reaffirmed his determination to lead the party back to power in the 2028 general elections, promising to work tirelessly to secure victory.

Dr Bawumia gave the assurance on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, when a group of NPP delegates visited him at his private residence to express their confidence in his leadership and vision for the party’s future.

Addressing the delegates, the former Vice President commended them for their unwavering support, describing their actions as crucial to the NPP’s rebuilding process after the 2024 elections.

“You have saved the party by your action. Because the message is gone and in 2028, they cannot use the same message against us; it will rather give us strength,” Dr Bawumia said.

He assured party faithful that their renewed trust in him would be matched with dedication and hard work. According to him, the responsibility placed on his shoulders would drive him to intensify efforts toward regaining political power.

“I want to assure you that because you have imposed your confidence in me, I will work at all times to ensure that we win power in 2028. I will not sleep. I will work day and night to ensure that I bring the power to the NPP,” he stated.

Dr Bawumia emphasized that unity within the NPP would be decisive in the next electoral cycle. He argued that the party’s numerical strength gives it a clear pathway to victory if members rally behind a common agenda, noting that low voter turnout among supporters affected the party’s performance in 2024.

“When you look at the data, we have more numbers than the NDC, and so all we need is unity. In 2024, our members didn’t vote. So, if we are able to bring everybody on board, we can win,” he said, urging party faithful to remain actively engaged as the NPP enters what he described as “phase two” of its rebuilding process.
