The Ghana Health Service has confirmed an additional 13 cases of Mpox, bringing the country’s cumulative case count to 993 as of January 25.

The recent update reflects a steady increase in reported infections over recent weeks, raising renewed concerns regarding public health.

According to the GHS, the death toll remains unchanged at seven, indicating no new fatalities associated with the disease during the latest reporting period.

Health authorities have reiterated that Mpox primarily spreads through close physical contact with infected individuals, including skin-to-skin contact and exposure to bodily fluids.

Common symptoms of the disease include fever, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, and skin rashes, which may develop into lesions.

The Ghana Health Service has urged the public to observe good personal hygiene, avoid close contact with suspected cases, and report symptoms early to the nearest health facility to prevent further spread.
