NACOC arrests notorious Drug Queen in Budumburam raid

The Narcotics Control Commission, NACOC, has apprehended a 32-year-old woman, identified as a key figure in the illicit drug trade by community leaders, during a major operation in Budumburam, Central Region, on Friday, 16 January 2026.
This operation is part of NACOC’s nationwide efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse.
Following weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance, officers raided Budumburam and nearby communities in the Gomoa East Municipality.
The suspect, Rebecca Afia Naa Dei Kotei, popularly known as Mother, had been under NACOC’s surveillance for some time. Community leaders describe her as widely feared and deeply involved in the sale and distribution of illicit drugs, having evaded arrest in the past.
During the raid, NACOC officials seized quantities of suspected cannabis, tramadol, and other controlled substances, as well as items believed to have been used in drug peddling activities. Several individuals were taken in for questioning, with some currently in custody.
According to the Commission, it has received multiple complaints from residents about the activities of suspected drug dealers in the area, prompting the intensified operation.
NACOC has reiterated its commitment to making Ghana a drug free nation and urged the public to continue supporting its work by providing credible information.
The Commission said all suspects arrested during the operation will be processed and arraigned before court in accordance with the law.
