The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has reissued a notice to occupants along the Santasi Roundabout to Asokwa Interchange corridor, directing them to vacate the area by January 20, 2026, to enable the smooth continuation of ongoing road construction works.

In a statement dated January 12, 2026, the Assembly emphasized that this notice applies to car dealers, mechanics, taxi operators, traders, squatters, owners of temporary structures and billboards operating along the stretch.

The KMA referenced its previous directive issued on September 24, 2025, requiring all affected occupants to vacate the area by November 1, 2025. However, the Assembly noted that despite multiple reminders, some individuals have refused to comply.

According to the statement, construction of the dual-carriage road linking Santasi to the Asokwa Interchange has commenced, and the public’s full cooperation is necessary to ensure the project’s completion on schedule.

The Assembly revealed that engineers from the Ghana Water Company Limited and the Electricity Company of Ghana are currently relocating utility installations along the corridor to pave the way for the project.

KMA has appealed to residents and traders to collaborate with the engineers and project officials to avoid delays.

Owners of affected garages have been advised to contact the National Disaster Management Organisation, the Physical Planning Department, and the Department of Urban Roads for assistance and possible reallocation.

The Assembly has urged the public to comply with the evacuation directive to facilitate the timely completion of the road project, which is expected to improve traffic flow and road safety in the metropolis.
