Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to clean and fair sport with the official inauguration of a 13-member Governing Board of the Ghana Anti-Doping Agency, led by the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams.

This milestone marks a significant step forward in strengthening the country’s anti-doping framework, ensuring Ghanaian athletes compete with integrity on both local and international stages. The newly formed Board boasts a strong blend of experience from across the sporting and academic landscape.

Notably, former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah brings valuable insight to the Agency’s work, while Professor Francis Dodoo, former President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, chairs the Board, providing strategic direction and policy development expertise.

The inauguration conference set a clear tone for the future, emphasizing the need for robust systems that protect athletes, enhance transparency, and uphold the credibility of Ghana’s sports institutions. Collaboration among government, sporting bodies, and international partners is vital in building an effective anti-doping program.

Ghana’s progress in this area has gained recognition, with the recent passage of the Anti-Doping Law and the establishment of a national anti-doping agency.

These reforms provide the necessary legal and institutional framework to combat doping and ensure compliance with international regulations.

Beyond legislation and structures, Ghana is committed to education and awareness, empowering athletes and support personnel to make informed decisions.

Through continued legislation, education, and international cooperation, Ghana is positioning itself as a leader in promoting clean sport in Africa, protecting its athletes and preserving the integrity of competition.
