GNFS: 37 injured in Mankrong road accident discharged

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed the discharge of 37 people who sustained injuries in a road traffic accident at Mankrong on the Accra–Kumasi Highway.
On Sunday, January 11, 2026, the accident resulted in one fatality. The collision involved a 40-seater Zhong Tong bus (registration number AS 7022-21) and a Man Diesel truck (GW 3969-U), both of which were in motion at the time of impact.
According to Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, DO II Ignatius Kwamena Baidoo, all 37 injured persons rescued have received treatment and been discharged.
“Our investigation revealed that all other casualties were rescued prior to our arrival and had sustained minor injuries. As of this morning, they have all been discharged,” he stated.
He added that the driver, who was handed over to the Ghana Ambulance Service after the rescue operation, has since been transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further medical care.
