AFRIMA 2025: Wendy Shay named Best Female Artiste in Western Africa

Ghanaian musician Wendy Shay was honored as the Best Female Artiste, Western Africa at the 2025 All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, which took place in Lagos, Nigeria on January 11, 2026.

The awards ceremony, which culminated a five-day event, was paired with business conferences.

Wendy Shay outshone contenders Tiwa Savage, Moliy, Ayra Starr, Amaarae, Josey, and others to win the prize.

In her acceptance speech, she expressed gratitude to her Lord and Saviour, her fans, the Shay Gang, her partners, and her baby, Tracy Shay, for dancing to Too Late, which went viral. In 2025, Wendy Shay’s song “Too Late” garnered significant attention after going viral, especially after a student Tracy Gyasi, also known as Tracy Shay, danced to it at a school event.

Many music fans have identified the musician as one of the Ghanaian musicians who performed exceptionally well during the year under review.

All Africa Music Awards (also referred to as AFRIMA) is an annual awards event to reward and celebrate musical works, talents, and creativity around the African continent while promoting the African cultural heritage. Its Pioneer Awards show was held in 2014.

The awards event was established by the International Committee AFRIMA, in collaboration with the African Union (AU).
