Seven Killed in Asikuma Truck–Tricycle Crash

Seven people were killed on Wednesday morning after a timber truck collided with a tricycle at Asikuma in the Bia West District of the Western North Region.
The Ghana National Fire Service said it received a distress call at 8.55am on January 7, 2026, and dispatched a rescue team from the Debiso Fire Station. The team, led by Assistant Station Officer Wonder, arrived at the scene within five minutes.

Fire officers took charge of scene safety, coordinated rescue efforts, and supported recovery operations, working alongside the Police and the Ambulance Service. Five of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Two others died later while receiving treatment at the Essam Government Hospital.

The bodies have been handed over to the Police for autopsy and further investigation. Authorities say the cause of the crash is still being investigated.
The Ghana National Fire Service urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads, especially on busy routes used by heavy-duty vehicles.
