Fire Officers Who Assaulted a Journalist Interdicted- Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has announced the interdiction of certain Ghana Fire Service (GNFS) personnel due to their role in the manhandling of a journalist earlier this week.
In an interview with GBC on January 8, 2025, the President stated that the investigation is ongoing. “The officers have been identified and interdicted, and an investigation is underway,” he stated.
The President condemned the incident, emphasizing that his administration will not condone assaults on journalists. This development follows the government’s pledge to take disciplinary action against the GNFS personnel involved.
The incident occurred during a fire outbreak at Kasoa New Market, where journalist Samuel Addo was recording a video of an altercation between fire officers and traders.
According to Addo, his phone was confiscated, and he was robbed of some money.
