Kasoa Market Fire: Regional Fire Commander assesses damage

The Central Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service, ACFOII Merinder Mary Attigah-Mensah, conducted an inspection of the Kasoa New Market after a fire outbreak affected several traders.
ACFOII Attigah-Mensah assessed the damage and commiserated with traders who lost goods during the visit. She was accompanied by the Kasoa Municipal Fire Commander and interacted with fire officers who responded to the incident.
The regional commander praised the firefighters for their swift response and professionalism, which helped contain the blaze and prevent further destruction. However, she stressed the need for stronger preventive measures, including the establishment of interim fire posts at both markets by the Kasoa Municipal Assembly.
ACFOII Attigah-Mensah also called for long-term solutions, such as proper re-demarcation of market spaces and enforcement of improved safety standards, to reduce the risk of future fires.
The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Phillis Naa Koryoo Akunor, praised the emergency response teams for their work and pledged to collaborate with authorities to improve safety conditions in markets.
The visit was part of broader efforts to strengthen fire prevention and emergency preparedness in commercial centers.
