Delcy Rodriguez, Venezuela’s Vice President and Oil Minister, was formally inaugurated as the country’s interim president on Monday, following the ousting of U.S.-deposed President Nicolas Maduro in a dramatic weekend military operation.

Rodriguez, a 56-year-old labor lawyer known for her strong ties to the private sector and her loyalty to the ruling party, was sworn in by her brother Jorge, who heads the national assembly.

Also sworn in on Monday were 283 lawmakers elected last May, with a small number classified as opposition members, as most opposition parties, including the faction led by Nobel Prize winner Machado, boycotted the contest.

First Lady Cilia Flores was the only lawmaker absent, currently being held in U.S. custody.
