FIFA has listened to the concerns of football fans around the world and made a major change to World Cup ticket pricing for next summer’s tournament in New Jersey.

In response to widespread criticism, the global football governing body has introduced a new $60 ticket category for fans loyal to their national teams.

The move comes after intense backlash over the high prices of tickets for the final match. In the initial release, tickets for the final were priced at over $4,000, sparking outrage among fans who felt the prices were unfair, particularly for those involved in national team travel clubs and loyalty programs.

In a move aimed at restoring faith with supporters, FIFA announced that 10% of each Participant Member Association (PMA) ticket allocation for all World Cup matches, including the highly anticipated final, will now be sold at the drastically reduced price of $60. This change is expected to allow more dedicated fans to attend the event without being priced out by exorbitant costs.

FIFA made the decision after senior officials met in Doha this week to discuss the growing concern over ticket prices. Several national federations had reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the pricing model, calling for more accessible options for loyal fans. The new ticket price structure aims to ensure fairness and accessibility for those who have long supported their national teams.

A FIFA official involved in the discussions stated, “Demand for tickets has been off the scale, with more than 20 million requests in this latest phase. We have listened to feedback, and this new category is the right thing to do.”
