Police arrest two in connection with robbery and murder of one Silver Ngozi at Asokore Mampong

On Monday, December 15, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP/Mr. Arthur Osei Akoto, addressed the media and the public regarding recent security operations conducted within the region.

These operations resulted in the arrest of five suspected robbers in two separate incidents.

The Commander stated that two of the suspects were arrested in connection with the robbery and murder of Silver Ngozi, a 28-year-old female, which took place on December 6, 2025, at approximately 5:00 pm at Asokore Mampong.

Following intelligence-led operations, a joint team from the Regional Police Headquarters and the Anti-Robbery Unit, Kumasi, arrested the suspects at their hideout in Aboabo, Kumasi, on December 12, 2025, at approximately 9:00 pm.

The suspects have been identified as: Farouk Iddris, aged 20 years, motorbike mechanic and rider, Salim Mohammed, aged 19 years, motorbike mechanic and rickshaw rider
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects robbed the deceased, during which one of them allegedly stabbed her with a knife, leading to her death.

A search conducted in the room of Farouk Iddris led to the retrieval of a machete, knives, and other offensive weapons.

During interrogation, both suspects admitted to committing the robbery. Salim Mohammed, who was the pillion rider on the day of the incident, identified a zigzag-edged knife as the weapon he used to stab the deceased.
The suspects are currently in Police custody assisting with investigations and will be put before court.

The zigzag- edged knife has been retained for evidential purposes. Additionally, an iPhone 11 Pro, belonging to the deceased and stolen during the robbery, has been retrieved and retained as evidence.

In a related development, further intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of three (3) suspects involved in a series of street robberies within Asokore Mampong, KNUST, Kanyase, Bosore, Duase, Antoa, Mayanka, Ayeduase, and surrounding areas.

The suspects are: Abdul Fatawu, alias “UN”, aged 22 years, Philip Nyarko, alias “Kawawa”, aged 24 years, Samak Hadi, alias “Toronto”, aged 21 years 10.

Items retrieved from their hideouts at Aboabo include: Fifty-nine iPhones, six Android phones, four tablets, five laptops.
“All three suspects have confessed to the offences in their caution statements and are currently in Police custody assisting with investigations.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command appeals to members of the public who may have fallen victim to these criminal activities within the affected areas to report to the Command to assist with ongoing investigations.

All suspects will be arraigned before court in due course to face the full rigours of the law.

The Ghana Police Service remains committed to maintaining peace, law, and order in the Ashanti Region. The Command encourages the public to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information to help combat crime,” he said.
