“Lumba never mentioned Odo Broni to me” – Evang. Papa Shee

Spread the love

Papa Shee, a renowned Ghanaian evangelist and former musician, has disclosed that the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba never broached the subject of his marriage or relationship with Odo Broni during their interactions.

In a conversation with Paul Adom-Otchere on Good Evening Ghana, which aired on Facebook and YouTube on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Papa Shee reflected on the circumstances surrounding his return to Ghana and reunion with Lumba.

He emphasized that his relocation to Ghana was solely for the purpose of propagating the word of God.

“I was living in America, spreading the word of God, and God sent me to Ghana,” he remarked.

“When I arrive, I embarked on the assignment God gave me.”

He explained that upon arriving in Ghana, he immediately set out to organise a large crusade even though he had no church in the country.

“I stayed in Ghana for a month and I had to organize a crusade at the Independence Square while I have no church in Ghana… just think about it if not God sent me – a big crusade for three days.”

Papa Shee revealed that because of this mission, he had very little time for social engagements.

“It wasn’t about friendship. I didn’t have time because I came for a mission and it needed to be accomplished… Not about finding out about people’s issues.”

He noted that he visited the “Ye Ne Wo Sere Kwa” composer on three occasions, but on one visit he faced challenges gaining access.

“After the major events I decided to visit him and I encountered those obstacles and I couldn’t see him,” he said.

Papa Shee insisted that Lumba never discussed marital matters with him.

“He never told me he had divorced his wife Akosua Serwah. We never spoke any concerning marital related,” he said.

“He told me he was happy for my calling and he listens and follows me and nothing like I asked him which woman have you birth with.”

He said on one of his visits, the security guard called someone he later learned was Odo Broni, whom he described as the woman who together with Lumba shared six children.

Papa Shee added that his focus during that period was solely on spreading the gospel, not probing into the personal affairs of his old friend.

“My mindset is different. I was focused on spreading the word of God.”
