The Ghana Black Queens have secured a significant boost, rising five places to 62nd in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking, released earlier today.

This rise also places Ghana 3rd on the African continent, with Nigeria and South Africa ranking higher.

Previously ranked 67th, the Queens’ impressive display at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco was crucial in their climb.

Ghana finished 3rd in the tournament, demonstrating renewed confidence, tactical discipline, and a strong winning mentality throughout the competition.

Their rise in the global ranking is widely seen as a reward for the team’s resurgence under the current technical leadership, as well as the growing competitiveness of women’s football in Ghana.

With the latest boost, expectations are high as the Black Queens continue their preparation for upcoming international assignments, hoping to build on their momentum and close the gap on Africa’s top two Nigeria and South Africa.
