NAIMOS arrest two Chinese Galamsey operators polluting River Subri in Bekwai

The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Taskforce apprehended two Chinese nationals on Monday, December 8, 2025, for engaging in illicit mining activities utilizing two excavators and other equipment in the Bekwai area of the Western North Region.
The arrest occurred during a raid conducted by the taskforce at Subrisu in Bekwai, where the illegal miners were caught in the act. The illicit mining operations were situated along the Subri River at Bekwai Subrisu in the Western North Region.
The activities of the two Chinese galamseyers and others had severely polluted the River Subri and other water bodies in the area, resulting in significant land degradation.

During the NAIMOS raids, several metallic gold trapping platforms used by the illegal miners were pulled down while three (3) heavy duty water pumping machines were destroyed to incapacitate the nefarious activities of the illegal miners.
The two Chinese Galamseyers have since been conveyed to Accra and safely handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) for necessary action.

Meanwhile, NAIMOS continues its nationwide crackdown on illegal mining activities to restore sanity in the Country’s mining sector.
