Gender Ministry steps in after girl, 7, suffers severe burns at Mamobi

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection says it is closely tracking the case of a seven-year-old girl from Mamobi who suffered severe burns after she was allegedly punished for bedwetting.
The incident was reported almost two months ago, and ministry officials say they have been in touch with the family since then.
According to the ministry, staff from the Domestic Violence Secretariat and the Social Protection Directorate have been checking on the child’s condition and helping the family access the care she needs.
The Minister, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, directed senior officers from both units to visit the family in person.
Their task was to assess the girl’s recovery, make sure her medical and welfare needs are being met, and assure the relatives that the ministry will continue to support them.
The ministry said it remains committed to seeing this case, and all other reported abuse cases, fully investigated and pursued through the proper channels.
