Armed robbers assault Nkaseim Police Station, seize weapons and release detainee

Residents of Nkaseim in the Asutifi South District of the Ahafo Region are in shock after a group of about twelve armed robbers attacked the local police station, seized weapons and freed a suspect before moving on to rob several businesses in the community.
Police sources say the gang arrived at the station around 5:15 p.m. and ordered officers on duty to lead them to the armoury.
The robbers took away the weapons stored there. While inside the station, a suspect who was in custody called out to the gang for help and was released.
Moments after leaving the station, the robbers stormed a gold shop and made away with an unspecified amount of money. They reportedly attacked a nearby cocoa purchasing station, robbed the Asutifi Rural Bank which sits close to the police station, and assaulted a mobile money vendor, escaping with twelve thousand Ghana cedis.
Police later rearrested the suspect who had been freed during the raid. Additional officers have since been deployed to Nkaseim as a manhunt for the robbers continues.
