Zipline confirms GH¢174m debt talks with gov’t

Zipline Ghana is presently negotiating with the government to recover outstanding arrears totalling over GH¢174 million for the year 2025.
This clarification follows concerns raised by the Minority in Parliament on November 25, 2025, regarding the medical drone delivery company’s plan to shut down three operational centres due to unpaid debt.
The caucus noted that the closures would jeopardize public health, disrupting the delivery of blood, vaccines, and other essential medical supplies – services vital for remote and hard-to-reach communities.
In an interview with Citi News on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Zipline’s Country Director, Daniel Kwaku Merki, expressed optimism about resolving the matter.
Ultimately, our goal is to achieve a resolution that will enable us to provide our services to all Ghanaians. We are working towards establishing a financially sustainable business, and we need a partnership with the government that will allow us to support them in their healthcare mandate,” he said.
Zipline has played a crucial role in Ghana’s health delivery system, transporting critical supplies to facilities across the country.
The company warns that without immediate action to settle the arrears, its operations—and the life-saving services it provides—could face further disruptions.
