Man arrested after petition over false “Galamsey” claims

The Criminal Investigations Department has apprehended a man at the centre of a petition alleging he disseminated false claims about illegal mining “galamsey” activity involving regional ministers.

The petition, filed by Daniel Sasu Omari and two others on behalf of the Ashanti, Eastern and Western Regional Ministers, requested the CID to probe what they described as fabricated allegations.

Investigators say the suspect, Wendell Nana Yaw Yeboah, was taken into custody to assist with the inquiry.

Police sources confirmed he is expected to be arraigned on Thursday, 27 November 2025, as the investigation continues.
