University of Ghana investigates heated Gyampo–Domfeh clash

The University of Ghana has initiated an investigation into a viral video depicting a heated argument between two senior faculty members, Prof. Ransford Gyampo and Dr. George Domfeh, during a current affairs programme aired on TV3 on Saturday, November 15, 2024.
What commenced as a discussion on national issues rapidly escalated into a personal confrontation, prompting widespread public criticism and calls for the University to intervene.
In a statement, the University indicated that management has taken note of the incident and, in accordance with the University of Ghana Statutes (2024) and the Code of Conduct for Academic Senior Members (2011), has activated internal procedures to review the conduct of both academics and determine appropriate disciplinary measures.
The statement also reaffirmed the University’s expectations of professionalism, integrity, and decorum from all faculty and staff, emphasizing that these standards must guide behaviour in both public and private settings.
“Management remains committed to safeguarding the dignity of the University and maintaining public trust in the institution,” the University added.
