16 injured after head-on collision on Sunyani–Kumasi highway
Sixteen individuals were injured in a head-on collision at Nyamebekyere on the Sunyani–Kumasi highway earlier today, November 18, 2025. The accident involved a Ford Transit (AS 7172-23) and a Kia Rhino (AS 3058-X).
According to a statement from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), firefighters from the Bechem Fire Station responded promptly to a distress call at 5:38 a.m. regarding the accident.
An eight-member rescue team led by STNO II Simon Yeboah extricated and transported the sixteen occupants, fourteen from the Ford Transit and two from the Kia Rhino, to the Bechem Government hospital and PISGAH Advanced Medical Center.
Fortunately, no fatalities were recorded, although the victims suffered varying degrees of injuries. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
