Ghanaian rapper and outgoing University of Ghana SRC President, Guru, says his time in student leadership has equipped him for higher national responsibilities.

Speaking with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, the musician asserted that his experience leading the University of Ghana Student Representative Council (UGSRC) has given him the endurance, tolerance, and leadership skills needed to serve at the national level.

“From what we have seen, anyone who can be the SRC president of the University of Ghana can rule Ghana any day, anytime,” Guru said.
“The majority of our ministers and MPs were heavily involved in school politics. That is where they gained their experience.”

Guru, who studied Political Science and Information Studies, further noted that leadership must be backed by proof of competence and preparation.

“If you want to venture into any new role, you must show proof that you understand the work and can do it. That’s why people go to school before applying for jobs,” he explained.

Confident in his readiness, he concluded,

“After successfully leading the SRC of Legon, I can lead Ghana or any position in Ghana without struggle.”
