Ashanti Region: Man found dead after dispute with sex worker

A tragic incident occurred at Abrense near Atobease in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region on Monday, November 3, 2025, resulting in the death of a 28-year-old man identified as Yaw Asamoah.

The deceased reportedly lost GHC1,000 during a visit to a commercial sex worker, which led to a heated confrontation in efforts to recover the missing money.

Asamoah was later found dead in an abandoned mining pit in the area, sparking outrage and fear among residents.

The Assembly Member for the Atobease Electoral Area, Samuel Yeboah, confirmed the incident on Friday, November 7, stating that two suspects, including the sex worker, have been arrested to assist police investigations into the matter.

“We just called the police to take the caretaker and the sex worker. Investigations are ongoing,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue for autopsy as investigations continue.
