Book of condolence opens for former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings

A book of condolence has been opened for the former First Lady of Ghana, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, following her passing, allowing government officials, political leaders, and members of the public to pay their respects to the late Ghanaian stateswoman.
The former First Lady of Ghana passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital at the age of 76.
As the wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, Nana Konadu was a prominent political figure and a leading advocate for women’s empowerment, serving as First Lady from 1979 to 2001 and becoming the first woman to contest the presidency in Ghana’s history in 2016.
President John Dramani Mahama has declared a three-day national mourning period in honour of the iconic former First Lady. During this time, all national flags will be flown at half-mast across public buildings, diplomatic missions, and government institutions in Ghana and abroad.
